Together with management teams and co-investors, we aim to build and create shareholder value. So, we team up with management teams with a clear vision and a proven track record. Success depends on a strong commitment from all parties.
Fortis Private Equity is the ideal financial and strategic partner for businesses that look for active support to management teams in order to drive meaningful business changes. We play a key role at the level of the strategic decisions through our presence in the Board of Directors. We do not want to be involved in the daily management.
Investment horizon
Our typical investment horizon is five to seven years. As we are an evergreen private equity player, we are free to optimise the period of our investment. Fortis Private Equity pre-agrees with its partners on an exit strategy to obtain the expected returns. The usual options are:
- sale to a third party, being a strategic or a financial partner;
- sale to the existing shareholders ; or
- an IPO.
Investing in different sectors
We invest in most sectors, except real estate, property development and the defense industry. We place special emphasis on sectors and management teams who offer the greatest potential for value creation.
The executives of Fortis Private Equity provide support of strategic importance:
- Defining, developing, implementing and executing the business plan, including projects involving acquisitions and sector consolidation.
- Financial advice on planning, reporting and control procedures, to provide the required financial discipline to ensure the roll-out of the business plan and its success.
- Strategic and operational restructuring of non-critical business areas.
- Relations and contact network: throughout Fortis Private Equity’s network of industrial and other contacts and BNP Paribas Fortis’s extensive presence in Europe and the rest of the world.
- Selection and motivation of management with the necessary knowledge and experience to ensure the project’s success, aligning their interests with those of the other shareholders.
- Guiding the divestment process, following a detailed analysis of options to maximise value creation.
